Jason Dubea - Pastor
Jason graduated from Bolton High School, received his Bachelor Degree from Louisiana College, and earned his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Jason felt God calling him to the ministry during the summer of 2005, when he was serving as a summer missionary in Arlington Texas. He has not looked back since! Jason has a desire to see Christian disciples grow in their relationship with the Lord, to encourage the people of Gateway to live in a community of faith, and to equip believers to share their faith without fear in their everyday lives.
After serving a local church as pastor for 4 ½ years, Jason was moved by God to Gateway in May 2016. Jason and his wife Jessica are the proud parents of Hannah and Reed.
Scotty Blackwell - Music Minister
Scotty Blackwell serves as Worship Leader-in-Interim at Gateway Baptist Church. He is married to Jessica and has two sons, Jaxon and Levi. Scotty is 35 years old and was born and raised in Central La where he graduated from Tioga High School. He attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he played basketball for 2 years. Upon returning to LA, Scotty moved to Shreveport where he became active in his churches praise team and leadership roles. It was in the winter of 2010 where the Lord started calling Scotty into His ministry. Scotty went back to Nashville, only this time not for basketball. He signed with a Christian Music label and began his singing ministry in the Ark-La-Tex, where he had much success. It wasn’t long after this where Scotty enlisted the help from his mother and sister, also singers, to form the group “The Blackwell Trio”; who’s had the opportunity to tour across the state as well as perform at some of the Louisiana Baptist Convention’s most sought out opportunities.
In late 2013, Scotty felt the Lord calling him to a more full time ministerial role. Not knowing where this new road might lead, Scotty relied on his “ultimate life support”, his wife Jessica, as well as many family members, former pastors and friends to affirm this new calling. He was licensed as a Minister to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by way of Kingsville Baptist Church in the Fall of 2014.
“I am so excited about what the Lord is doing here at Gateway. It is truly place where Jesus Christ is the Head. We as the body, although flawed, come together often to build each other up and journey through this thing called life in only the best way we know how…….In Jesus’ Name.” -Scotty
Paul Roberts - Youth Minister
Paul Roberts serves as the Youth Minister at Gateway Baptist Church. Paul is a lifelong resident of Grant Parish and has a passion for reaching out to young people. A 2006 graduate of Grant High School, Paul went on to earn a degree in education from Louisiana College in 2010. Paul has been teaching for four years and currently teaches Algebra 1 at Grant High. Paul loves all things outdoors such as camping, hunting, and fishing. He has built strong bonds with some of our male students by taking them on various outdoor activities. He loves to teach them life skills beyond the walls of our church.
Prior to his joining Gateway, Paul was Youth Minister at Hebron Baptist Church for 2 years. He served at Gateway as a College/Career Sunday Small Group Leader before he moved into the youth position. He hopes to continue his education and further his ministry by enrolling in Seminary in the fall.
